Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Lodge Color Enameled Cast-Iron 6-Quart Dutch Oven, Island SpiceCustomer Review: Pleased Summary: 5 StarsI was very happy with this product. It was just as described and worked wonderfully!
Customer Review: Performed well until enamel cracked Summary: 1 StarsThe third time I used this Dutch Oven the enamel surface developed a large crack on the bottom inside surface. No choice but to return it. Kudos to Amazon on their prompt, professional response in handling the return and credit.
Customer Review: Love This Pot - read my review on what not to do Summary: 5 StarsI received this item in record time, just before Thanksgiving...Thank You!
I cooked Artisan bread in the dutch oven but I first coated it with vegetable oil as per the recipe, DO NOT DO THIS. I had a very hard time cleaning the pot, I had to use baking soda and a soft scrub pad (nothing else worked). I was very lucky that it did not scratch the finish and I was able to clean it as if it was brand new. I do not think it needs the vegetable oil since I cooked another loaf and did not use the oil and the bread came out perfect.
This is a very beautiful pot and not too heavy at all, I leave it on my stove since it looks so nice and gives my kitchen a splash of color. The price on this pot is GREAT!
Customer Review: Works beautifully, but watch out for chipping Summary: 4 StarsThe color is beautiful (I have the island spice) and it works wonderfully. I have started to bake chicken in mine and it comes out moist and delicious, HOWEVER, the enamel chips off very easily. I have accidentally lightly bumped the lid against the lip of the bottom and chipped the enamel a few times. I mean very lightly, and I have chips around the top. Other than that, it is a very nice oven for the price.
Customer Review: Bought two - couldn't be more pleased Summary: 5 StarsI bought two of these last year, one for me, one for my Mother. We have had no problems at all. We both enjoy cooking with them and we both agree that each one has become our favorite pan. Regarding the chipping mentioned below, I wonder if they're having problems with one run of pans made recently?? Or maybe these folks work for Le Crusette (just kidding). Or maybe they are getting the pan too hot when empty?? All I know is I've used mine plenty and never had a problem
